Butokusai (n.) A ceremony and festival for the development of the martial arts. (On May 4, 1899 (Meiji 32), Butokusai was held in Heian Jingū. With the foundation of the All Japan Kendō Federation in 1953 (Shōwa 28) the festival was revived and is now a part of the Kyōto-Taikai.) [1]
